Strategic Directions
Our center brings together
engineers, creative talent, social scientists, support staff,
and business folks--all with the unified vision of providing
people with innovative consumer technologies of the future. Our research
directions include creating new ways to have fun, to learn, and to get
work done. Our facility contains workbenches, oscilloscopes, and soldering
irons--the usual tools for building high-tech prototypes--and a dedicated
creativity room, with a full complement of tools for thinking outside
the box.
One overarching research
theme at Casio U.S. R&D is creating new "netsmart" technologies
(sometimes called internet devices or information appliances). In our
view, netsmart devices are:
- specialized products
that
- leverage the power of
the Internet (or other network system) and that
- are embedded in ordinary
objects (e.g., watches) or environments (e.g., a living room).
And because we're Casio,
we always stay focused on ease of use. In fact, a guiding principle
for U.S. R&D is "Internet power; Casio simplicity." We combine our resources
and talents to this end.
